Old Christian Songs

We had some very good services this weekend here at Truth and Life Center. Some of the people that we served on Saturday were back for service on Sunday. We were able to spend time with them at the altar and hopefullty we will be able to start Bible Studies with them real soon!

Now on to a topic that has been on my mind lately. I remember some songs that we used to sing during services that were geared to getting the church involved in out reach and now I can't find anyone that knows them. Am I really that old? It is a scary thought! Here is the first song:

You never mentioned Jesus to me. You met me day by day and you knew I was astray, but you never mentioned Jesus to me. (There may be more words I am not sure)

The other song is: Lord lay some soul upon my heart and love that soul through me. May I ever do my part to win that soul to thee. (There may be more words I am not sure)

Anyway if you know where I can get the music for these two songs you can copy/cut-paste and email me at kevindhopper@comcast.net. I would apreciate it.

Or maybe you know these songs and a newer songs that conveys the same message. I can accept change! HA! LOL!

You never mentioned Jesus to me. You helped not the light to see. You passed me day by day and you knew I was astray. But you never mentioned Jesus to me.

(I think that's right) We really are showing our age on this one. LOL

Yes, I know both of these songs and love them! I'm sure there is someone there really close that knows these songs. Don't you go to the Trout's church? I would be surprised if Sis. Trout didn't know these. Please let us know if you get the music to them. If not, I'm sure Ronda or I could write the chords down for you.

YOU NEVER MENTIONED HIM TO ME
WRITTEN BY JAMES ROWE
ARR. BY OTIS L MCCOY
COPYWRIGHT 1949

VERSE 1
WHEN IN THE BETTER LAND, BEFORE THE BAR WE STAND
HOW DEEPLY GRIEVED OUR SOULS WILL BE
IF ANY LOST ONE THERE, SHOULD CRY IN DEEP DESPAIR
YOU NEVER MENTIONED HIM TO ME

VERSE 2
O LET US SPREAD THE WORD, WHERE-EER IT MAY BE HEARD
HELP GROPING SOULS THE LIGHT TO SEE
THAT YONDER NONE MAY SAY, YOU SHOWED ME NOT THE WAY
YOU NEVER MENTIONED HIM TO ME

VERSE 3
A FEW SWEET WORDS MAY GUIDE, A LOST ONE TO HIS SIDE
OR TURN SAD EYES ON CALVARY
SO WORK AS DAYS GO BY, THAT YONDER NONE MAY CRY
YOU NEVER MENTIONED HIM TO ME

CHORUS
YOU NEVER MENTIONED HIM TO ME
NOR HELP ME THE LIGHT TO SEE
YOU MET ME DAY BY DAY AND KNEW I WAS A-STRAY
YOU NEVER MENTIONED HIM TO ME
